Books

Sometimes people ask that old question "Read any good books lately?" and, as a keen reader I like to give some suggestions - here are a few:

Sue Gee grew up on a remote Devon farm, and in a village in Leicestershire, before moving to Surrey in 1960. These locations, and her parents’ time in India, feature in The Tiger of Tulsipore, her current novel in progress. She has lived in London all her adult life, where she teaches creative writing, running the MA Writing Programme at Middlesex University from 2000-2008.

R.F. Delderfield was born in South London in 1912. On leaving school he joined the Exmouth Chronicle newspaper as a junior reporter, where he went on to become Editor. From there he began to write stage plays and then became a highly successful novelist, renowned for brilliantly portraying slices of English life. With the publication of his first saga, A Horseman Riding, he became one of Britain's most popular authors. Many of his bestselling novels were later adapted for television. He died in 1972.
