November: A Trip to Ireland and a gathering of cousins

We went to Ireland with our friends John and Gerry, staying in a cottage not farm from Ennis. It was very cosy, with an open fire on which we burnt compressed peat. John's cousins made a brief visit, driving 250 miles form north of Belfast to be with us for less than 24 hours!

We went to a pub where we were promised two musicians. They arrived just after we'd finished our meal and played one song - the another two arrived - then more until we had 12 musicians playing for us. Actually they were enjoying playing among themselves and it was just good fortune that they allowed us to listen in!

At the end of November, actually on Liz's birthday, we had a gathering of cousins - first a meal at The Great Oak, then a little 3D television and, the next day, a buffet lunch. Great fun - and we hope to repeat it next year!

No I haven't got the photograph upside down - Liz is photographing the mirror in the ceiling of the Waterford Crystal showroom!

A self portrait taken on the convex mirror in the hedge opposite the cottage where we stayed.

John's cousins from Northern Ireland joined us for 24 hours and we had a wonderful evening with them in an Irish pub, enjoying the music:
Johnny, Margaret, Molly, James, John, Gerry and John

It started with just two musicians, then a couple more arrived, then more, and more - eventually there were 12!

In March the family got together for Alan's funeral and they agreed to meet up in Petersfield in November - the photographs below were taken during the weekend when we all met at the Great Oak for lunch on the Saturday then a buffet lunch on Sunday.

Watching 3D television can seriously affect your looks - or even put you to sleep!

I rest my case!

Look good enough to eat: Liz puts the finishing touches to the buffet we had for Sunday Lunch. Looks good enough to drink: John does his stuff with the drinks
