September Part 1: North America

With a trip to Canada and the USA and a new grand baby, one page is not enough for September - so here is a page devoted to our trip to Canada and the USA.

We flew from Heathrow to Newark, New York then on to Toronto where Bruce and Ellie met us. After almost a week with them we flew to Denver, then on to Austin where June and Bobby met us - in torrential rain! After a couple of weeks with them we flew to Houston and finally back to Heathrow - almost 11,000 miles of flying!

Bruce and Ellie with Sasha. Bruce and Ellie stayed with us when Carol Marsh and Chris Hatton (Ellie's nephew) were married in Petersfield. When we said that we were visiting Canada Bruce and Ellie invited us to stay with them in Pickering, Ontario.	John and Liz with Alfred (95) and Naomi (91) Studd. Alfred's father was John's grandfather who left the UK for Canada in 1911 and married again - Alfred is his son and thus John's father's half brother. For more details see: www.studd-family.org

We stayed in a cabin by this lake while we were in Tyler. The cabin is owned by Green Acres Baptist church. Bobby's sister Mavita works for the church and arranged for us to say there. It was beautiful and, in the mornings, cool - about 20C.

On an old train in Austin: John, June, Bobby and Liz	In a supermarket cafeteria in Austin Liz spots a group of ladies knitting and cannot resist finding out what they're up to. "We enjoy knitting and meet up every so often to knit and natter!"
