October: Graham and Leslie pop in to see Phil and Bobs, The Unity Bookshop celebrates 25 years. We have help from Colombia for the girls; we learn about the Praise Bus and an orhanage in Uganda and John begins a walk along the Kennet and Avon canal.

Graham and Lesley live in Kent and have very busy lives with lots of children and granchildren, so aren't often able to get to Petersfield. It was thus very good to see them when they stopped off to see Phil and Bobs on their way to Devon.

Unfortunately Liz missed them as she was at a Wome's Conference in Swansea!

Later in the month we had Jenny from the IMC office in Colombia staying with us - she was another pair of hands to help with the girls! The girls also found Bob's zimmer frame a source of fun! We also take the girls around the town and The Lake - we try to use up their energy, but we exhaust ourselves in the process!

Bobs and Liz have both worked in the Unity Bookshop and so when the shop celebrated its 25th birthday with a service in the methodist Church it was Bobs who was asked to cut the cake.

Juliet Nasuuna had worked with the praise bus that went around the country with the Olympic Torch and also founded an orphanage in Uganda. She was our guest at the October Engaes event in the Festival Hall, Petersfield.

Finally, Terry and John begin to walk along the Kennet and Aven canal - about 90 miles in all, but tackled in 8 to 10 mile stages, using rail as much as possible: in October we drove to Aldermaston, caught a train to Reading then walked back along the canal to the car - this story will run and run thoughout this and next year.

Bobs was asked to cut the cake at the service to commemorate the Unity Bookshop's 25th Anniversary - look carefully at the photograph above and you can see Phil in the background!

Who says zimmer frames are for old folks? Wren and Freya have a go with their great grandmothers zimmer frame Jenny, who works in the IMC office in Colombia, stayed with us for a few days and got involved with Freya and Wren.

Juliet Nasuuna joined us for the Engage evening in October. Juliet helped out with the Praise Bus which went round the country with the Olympic Torch and she also run an ophanage in Uganda. Click on the link to read about Project Shalom.

In October John and Terry started their walk along the Kennett and Avon Canal. The first section was from Reading, where the canal meets the Thames, to Aldermaston. We hope to walk one section every month.
